Custonidus
Demonym: Custodians
Holy text: Dagathonus
The Custodians are a variation of Druidism which arose in the cities, first with the Ponderans, then organically in many other species. This religion venerates the natural world as the highest good, even knowing that it contains many brutalities and injustices. To many Druids, the role of sapient species is as Custodian, meant to witness and cultivate, not to extract. Wherever one takes of the natural world, they are expected to return this harvest in some fashion or another. And insofar as this cannot be done, sacrifices are expected, relative to the sacrifice that the natural world has made.

Tenets:Druidism is one of the oldest religions of Nyra, not only practiced by Solid mages, but by many agrarian peoples across the planet. The Druids view the natural world not as a transcendent good, but as a balance that must be preserved or else all things will fall into disrepair. Druidic peoples see themselves as predator and prey, not as Custodians. They do not view themselves as capable of custodianship, only survival, and often see the Custodians as a city-walker's attempt to reclaim their severed connection with nature. Accordingly, the Druid views other creatures as part of a community, with which they may cultivate relations of rivalry, cooperation, domination, and submission. Nature is not to be venerated, but understood. Druids practice humility in the face of the horror of the natural world, trying to find their appropriate place, recognizing the strength and weakness of the many species therein.
