Kaze History

-The Kaze arise in the Dead Flats and flee the horror by living in the mountains

-Over many generations, the Kaze build cities on stilted platforms, mostly separated from natural dangers.

-The Kaze slowly begin to worship the gods in magical cults. They call themselves the Esan-Va.

-The Esan-Va creates a central clergy rulership for the Kaze, bringing all the smaller townships under their direction.

-A sect of the Esan-va leave the order because they have lost interest in worship. Instead this new sect is interested in the obsessive acquisition of knowledge. They dub themselves the Cult of Stone Owls.

-The Grand Cleric, Ogann Delus, seemingly out of nowhere, resigns. He replaces himself with one of his contemporaries named Irith Hasoda.

-Irith Hasoda, unknown to many, is a member of the Cult of Stone Owls and begins a campaign of cultural transformation which seeks to secretly undermine the magic worshiping clergy and replace it with a society of knowledge worship.

-The Gas worshippers quickly come to Irith Hasoda’s side, creating a vast network of information gathering that Hasoda utilizes to create a central form of control.

-Irith Hasoda announces that the Esan-Va rulership is no more. He names himself King of Vargas, a city which did not even yet exist. As a campaign to bring together the quarreling sects and perhaps to distract from what was taking place, he commissioned the building of Vargas on the summit of the highest mountain.

-The construction of Vargas begins.

-Irith Hasoda seeks to expand the Kaze empire eastwards as much as possible and to find a land outside the mountains in that direction. The Kaze seek to build encampments on the ground.

-As the Kaze proceed east across the mountains, they discover an Utwesh holy temple on the eastern side of the range. They do not hesitate to take it by killing all of the priests inside.

-When the Kaze reach the end of the range, they encounter the Malanthan forest and early conflict with the Utwesh truly begins. It is decided to reinforce their foothold on the border, by building up the temple of “twilodon” into a great fort; hence dubbed Grimcal.

-The Kaze refuse to cede the territory to the Utwesh. They had already planned on the expansion east and Hasoda does not want to appear weak.

-The Ethakkra-Kaze War begins.

-The war goes on for centuries.

-Ethakkra-Kaze War ends with the Kaze finally ceding the Malanthan Forest to the Ethakkra.
