Kalnis History

-The Kalniss begin being interbred by the exiled Famulus and the Humans on the Lazvarian continent.

-The Kalniss are the target of intense bigotry during the Famulus-Human War that ensues.

-This causes the Kalniss to band together and they begin forming a distinct culture.

-The development of this culture represents a threat to both the Famulus and the Humans, who both want complete domination.

-A legendary explorer named Kolf Redbeard leads an expedition to discover a place for his people to settle. After years of traveling, he finds that the northern tundras of Faydorn are complete unoccupied.

-When Kolf returns, he tells the oppressed Kalniss of a brutal, but unclaimed region and over the next decades, a mass exodus of Kalniss leave to the northern tundra of Faydorn.

-Those who stay on Lazvar tell of this new land to generations of Kalniss who are born there, bringing a constant flow of new travelers to what would become the Kalnis homelands.

-This new environment is horrifically challenging to survive in. The early Kalniss cannot afford to go to war with one another, as they must band together to live.

-Over the years, however, they conquer their environment through the creation of slayer guilds, who vest a clan-like control over the areas they protect.

-One group of Kalnis do not decide to stay in the tundra and migrate east to more fertile lands, settling there. They call themselves the Peridar.

-The Kalnis who refuse to acquiesce to the slayer guilds and who do not go east, go south, into the rugged wastelands. These scattered and conflicting tribes come to be known as the Braggos.

-Those who stay in the north and weather the storm under the new clan structures amalgamate into three different nations: The ‘Nak clanners, the McPhersons, and the ‘Min tribe.

-The ‘Nak clanners undergo internal war for an extended period of time as the McPhersons and the ‘Min tribe begin their early conflicts.

-As the McPherson and ‘Min tribe undergo an extended conflict, neither arises victorious for many years.

-The Braggos, disorganized, but bloodthirsty, wage constant battles upon the borders of the other tribes, especially the Peridar in the east.

-In response, the Peridar begin the building of the Great Wall.

-The ‘Nak clan finally ends its era of internal conflict and bands together, choosing to wage war on the McPherson and the ‘Min. This is the beginning of the War of G’ok.

-The War of G’ok goes for decades with no victor and repeated exchanges of land and disrespected cease-fires.

-The War of G’ok ends in a pact between the ‘Nak, McPherson, and the ‘Min. The Empire of G’ok is formed.

-In honor of the pact, the three all agree to build the Fortress of G’ok together and to create a central command structure called The Tribunal where each of them will elect delegates to decide on issues of their new alliance.

-The Peridar finally complete the building of the Great Wall.

-The Braggos, now without a source of pillage, turn their attention to the north.

-The Valley Wars begin.

-The Valley Wars end with the victory of the Empire of G’ok. The Braggos are driven even further south.
