Magic

Magic represents both how much magic is in the user's blood stream, and how well he is able to focus and handle the magic stream through his Eye of Arkhan.

When a character is impacted with the effects of a magic spell, they may roll against their MAG statistic in order to resist the spell.  If they are successful, the spell fizzles on contact.

Note: Increasing MAG to levels 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10, unless noted otherwise (Such as with the feat Arkhans Eye, which accrues no penalties for getting to 2), takes away 1 from CON, AGI, and STR.

The above raw statistics are applied to a great many details in the world, and are the basic building blocks for how the character will interact with the world around him.  Numbers called modifiers are increased, depending on how much you have in any given skill and are as follows.

1-4: +1 modifier

5-6: +2 modifier

7: +3 modifier

8-9: +4 modifier

10: +5 modifier

...11: +6 modifier

...12: +7 modifier

...13: +8 modifier

These are applied in many different situations, such as battle, and normal skill checks and are referenced where appropriate in the guide.  Any statistic over 10 adds another one to the modifier.
